Copperstrings: a Social Networking Site With a Heart and a Mind

I recently joined CopperStrings, a conscious living social networking site. CopperStrings stands out in the overcrowded arena of social networking sites. I noticed the difference right at the point when I was asked to register and develop my profile. It made me think and dig deeper. And gave me an opportunity to go beyond common hobbies and interest while making friends. It is a fun place to be. I am having great fun doing some serious work.

I might have met these people in some other place but would not have come to know this dimension of their personality and their thoughts. It is positively thrilling. Apart from forming groups , members can also write journals, make pods, write articles and blogs and receive and contribute to a newsletter. CopperStrings has interesting sister sites like CopperWiki , Tradiyo ,SoulandSoil, GreenGhost , Wondermentalist and CopperWire and In.spired.us.

I found that CopperString is endeavouring to build a cross-cultural, cross-regional, cross-racial, multi-skilled social networking site where members can do collaborative and collective work; involving those who have a lot to share but can’t; for discovering the treasures hidden below layers of our routines, habits, unquestioned conventions, judgments, fears or apathy.

Here I met people who believe that there is a way to make this world a better place to live, share local as well as global concerns and discuss common interests. Members are from across the globe and it is fun exchanging local practices and knowledge and even home remedies. People come from all walks of life. Practitioners of alternative medicines and therapies, people who want to raise awareness about topics such as child abuse; ethical fashion designers; doctors practicing kitchen remedies to treat common ailment; people committed to fitness, vets; green movement, people from the accessible travel industry; people from third world making communities sustainable by promoting local African fabrics and some like me who want to make changes in their way of living.

We found that though we are different, yet we are same. The spontaneity of communication, the sincerity and commitment and the vast knowledge base of people I have met here have filled me with wonder.

Every day at CopperStrings new people are walking in with hearts to match their brains. And with that a new brick falls into place to build a platform that has both a heart and a mind – a conscience and a consciousness. The true success parameter of this network is not the number of people you’ll be connected to, or the number of new opportunities these connections bring. The success it aspires is a practice of transaction (work related or personal) that transforms people. Let each member discover the source of his deepest joy, the strength of his most enduring values and do some great work while at it. CopperStrings is a start of a conversation that is invitational to those great qualities of creativity that have long been associated with the soul, with a person’s sense of belongingness.
